This rectangle-shaped, reversible Yamanaka lacquer placemat is just the right size for placing a meal for one person. The surface has linear unevenness of the recreated pattern of the wood grain, called “Hegi-me,” which is made by planing.
There are two sides, black and red, and the black side can be used for chic table settings, while the red side can be used for celebratory settings.
It can be used not only as tableware, but also as a base for various items such as flower vases, photo frames, accessory trays, and fruit stands.
It has a traditional atmosphere but a simple design that goes well with modern dining tables and rooms.
